Summer Venue Takes On Winter's Tale

Vermont Shakespeare Company logoThe Vermont Shakespeare Company is gearing up for its sixth season of Shakespeare in the Park in August with performances of William Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale at two locations.

For the first time, the company will perform for two weekends, Aug. 8–11 and 16–18 at Oakledge Park in Burlington. It will also return to the Champlain Islands with a one-night-only performance at Knight Point State Park in North Hero on Aug. 15.

A primary goal of the company is to expose more people to Shakespeare by making it accessible, exhilarating, relevant, and immediate for today's audience. Thc company has developed its own signature, fast-paced, physical style of playing Shakespeare.

To date, more than 2,000 people have experienced Shakespeare in the Park. The company is working toward realizing its vision of being a successful and nationally recognized Shakespeare Festival performing in multiple locations throughout Vermont.

The Oakledge Park shows will start at 6 p.m. Thursday–Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sundays. The Knight Point State Park performance will begin at 6 p.m. Both venues have open-lawn seating, and patrons should bring a blanket or chair.
